The "Bibliographical database of Essays on Himalayan and Buddhist Studies" with emphasis on Tibet and Mahayana Buddhism, created by Heinz Räther and Gregor Verhufen, contains almost 34.000 entries of essays in western languages from magazines (both scholarly and non-scholarly) and edited volumes.
The database on the basis of MS Access XP covers:
- all aspects of Tibet and culturally related areas such as Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal, Ladakh, Mongolia, etc. Topics included in this section are history, religion, language, linguistics, literature, anthropology, medicine, geography, geology, botany, zoology, exploration, mountaineering, Tibetan and Tibetan Buddhist activities in the West, etc.
- Indian and Central Asian Mahayana Buddhism: history, philosophy, literature, etc.
A bonus database includes entries on about 1.000 essays on Tibet in Japanese language (entries are in English) published between 1955 and 1990.
This stand-alone database application includes full-text retrieval search systems as well as opportunities for copy, cut and paste regarding single entries or even several datasets. A data grid form guarantees a view over several datasets.
